An Inside Peek: the month of May at Kaplow

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

May – for some, it stands for spring blooms, the unofficial beginning of summer, and the winding down of the school year. For us at Kaplow, May stood for a few other things:

M: multi-tasking, developing media relationships, application and event management

A: taking action, staying alert through long hours, guaranteeing attendance of the right people at every event

Y: reaching yearlong goals, yippee!-worthy media hits, and plenty of yawns

We’re giving ourselves a little pat on the back – as an agency we organized more than 15 press previews, PR stunts and social media application launches this month!

Here’s an inside glimpse of our crazy May:

Target: Our Target Home team planned and executed four large-scale press events for its new design partners in a matter of two weeks, including the reveal of Target’s new home partner, Nate Berkus!

Shiseido: The team worked tirelessly to execute three days of highly successful events along with the launch of the brand’s first interactive Facebook application and Pinterest page, all to celebrate and commemorate the company’s 140th anniversary.

Kellwood: The Kellwood teams – Baby Phat, XOXO and Zobha – worked together to coordinate a seamless two-day press preview for all three brands, along with Zobha’s first ever live twitter chat with celebrity fitness trainer and brand ambassador, Michelle Lovitt.

Nexxus: All through May, the team worked fast and furious to prepare for their first Digital Magazine, available right through Facebook. Simultaneously, they were ramping up for the brand’s partnership with the Tony Awards (airing this Sunday!).

St. Ives: The team has been churning out stellar media placements including several recent beauty award wins. On the social media side of things, the team has been working hard to craft more creative, engaging content and their efforts have paid off – the page saw a large uptick in May!

Laura Mercier: The team hosted a “flawless” media event in May, allowing for intimate conversations with founder Laura Mercier to introduce the Fall collection portfolio. Many attendees have already confirmed coverage!

CVS Beauty Club: The team worked nonstop to create engaging content for Facebook, YouTube and Twitter during May. Stay tuned for some big announcements over the next few months!

Cosmetic Executive Women: This year, the team executed a brand new strategy around the annual CEW Beauty Awards – celebrating the new beauty stars, the bloggers! Placements are rolling in including a “homerun” placement in WWD and a Today Show segment on 6/5, all without having any celebrity clout to leverage.

Timex: The team worked nonstop through May to pull off the first Timex Watch Dress! Christina Ricci wore a Christian Siriano-designed and Brad Goreski-styled dress made of ticking Timex Watches to the 6/3 MTV Movie Awards. This unique “moment in time” was pulled off with only two weeks to execute!

HauteLook: The team orchestrated a huge apartment makeover project, working nonstop for weeks to kick off a media event for HauteLook’s new home category, while creating video series to chronicle the HauteLook apartment renovations.

mark.: This month the mark. team pulled off a “hair-markable” event for the brand’s first hair collection.  The evening affair was beautiful and elegant, “marking” a great new milestone for the team.

Ultherapy: The team coordinated an intimate Mother’s Day weekend event for online influencers and their mothers this May. The non-invasive procedure was demonstrated for all and special guest, Real Housewife of New Jersey Jacqueline Laurita, was on-hand to explain her experience with Ultherapy!

Skype: In addition to carrying out a Mother’s Day “mombassador” program with MomCentral, the Skype team also launched “Say it with Skype” with music legends Pete Wentz, Ryan Tedder and Matt Pinfield! The app allows people to send their friends and family customized music video greetings.

Phew! Cheers to the end of the crazy month of May, and congratulations to all the teams for a job well done. Here’s to a summer full of new and exciting social programs, product launches and events!
