Kaplow recognized summer and the back-to-school season as the perfect opportunity to position kajeet, a pay-as-you-go cell phone service created from a kid’s point of view, as the expert on kids and cell phone safety.
Kaplow successfully targeted CBS 5’s “Bay Sunday” in San Francisco for a segment on kids and cell phone safety, hosted by ConsumerWatch reporter Sue Kwon – watch it here. Along with packaged b-roll for a visual, Kaplow sent pre-paid phones for the anchors to try with their kids – a successful approach to introduce kajeet to the media.
In addition to the CBS 5 segment, the Kaplow team created a tip sheet on “How to Know your Child is Ready for a Cell Phone,” which was then integrated in the kajeet Web site. The tip sheet stresses the idea of using cell phones for good and the importance of maintaining communication between parents and kids regarding phone safety.
