When Kaplow was charged with developing a program to showcase the compelling entrepreneurial success stories eBay has enabled, the team launched the emPowered by eBay program to engage consumer, business and small business media with fresh eBay news.
As part of the media program, Kaplow analyzed statistical data to identify America’s Top-Ten Selling eBay Markets. In addition, Kaplow connected with eBay users in each market to collect their inspiring entrepreneurial stories. Working with Harris Interactive, Kaplow also developed a survey to gauge consumers’ buying and selling habits during the economic downturn to add an additional, timely angle. The program was launched with a national broadcast exclusive with eBay Dean of Education Jim “Griff” Griffith on Fox Business News.
Following the news announcement, Kaplow outreached to each regional market to secure local broadcast interviews with eBay selling expert Marsha Collier, as well as inclusion of eBay data into segments and print stories. Placements appeared in the Orange County Register, Chicago Sun-Times, The Morning Call, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Florida Sun-Sentinel, Crain’s New York Business, Entrepreneur and on NPR, CW-11, WNBC, WOR-AM, KTTV-TV (LA), KDFW (Dallas), WFOR-TV (Ft. Lauderdale).
